Club History
What’s with the name?
While the Salmon Roe Club officially began business in November of ’93 the idea for the club came earlier that year in Philadelphia. Born out of a need to appear organized, several of us advertising professionals decided to create a club. Not for advertising, but to get better seats along the banks of the Schukyll River to watch the Dadvail Regatta, one of the country’s premier rowing events.
Being advertising professionals we believed that presentation was everything. And by appearing to be a serious “rowing club” we could get our sponsorship buck to go a little further (i.e.: seats closer to the finish line). But since none of us were actually scullers, and not wishing to misrepresent ourselves, the Salmon “Roe” Club was born.
