5. Tracking the Results of your Web Site

By tracking how browsers navigate after arriving at your Web Site, you can determine how much use they are making of your current Web Site These statistics will be more or less relevant depending on the type of Web Site you are monitoring. Poor results in any of these areas could either be because of poor Web Site design, because the majority of browsers arriving at your Web Site are not actually part of your target audience, or both.

Overall Page Views

This is the total number of pages being viewed by the total number of browsers who have visited a Web Site Obviously, the lower the average number of pages being viewed by browsers, the less useful they are finding your Web Site

Average Time

This is the average number of minutes browsers are spending at a Web Site Again, the lower the average number of minutes being spent by browsers, the less useful they are finding your Web Site

Return Visitors

This is the percentage of browsers viewing a Web Site who have visited more than once. It may be of concern if you see a predominance of new visitors over time, since it indicates your site may not be attractive enough for visitors to come back.

Page Statistics

Depending on the content of individual pages found on your Web Site, tracking the performance of each can help you decide when a page has exhausted its usefulness or needs to be revised.

Individual Page Views
Details which pages on a Web Site are being viewed by browsers most frequently.

1st Page Visited
Details which pages on a Web Site are being viewed first (navigated to) after your home page?

Average Time / Page
Details which pages on your Web Site are browsers spending the most time viewing.

Entry Page
Details on which pages browsers are most frequently entering a Web Site?

Exit Page
Details on which pages browsers are most frequently leaving your Web Site?
